How do I configure my email account in Apple Mail?

 

  • Open Mail.
  • Click the "Mail" menu and select "Preferences..."
  • From the "Mail Preferences" window select "Accounts".
  • From "Accounts" select "Add Account".
  • In the "Account Information" window, select "POP" from the pull-down menu, provide a description for the account (i.e. Work Account), your email address (i.e. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ), the name you want displayed on your email messages (i.e. John Smith), the incoming mail server (i.e. mail.yourdomain.com), the User Name (i.e. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and Password you used when setting up the email account and the outgoing server (i.e. mail.yourISP.com) in the appropriate text boxes.
  • Be sure to check/enable "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
  • Click "OK."


If you've configured everything correctly, you should be able to "send and receive" with no errors.
